Acceptable Use Policy
This Acceptable Use Policy (the “AUP”) is part of, and incorporated by reference into, our Terms of Service. It governs what you may and may not do with Tenux. We keep it on its own page so the rules can evolve with the product without reopening the whole contract. Capitalised terms have the meaning given in the Terms.
Tenux runs commands and code on your own machine (or a cloud VM you rent) and provides encrypted tunnels and a managed relay that let you reach those machines remotely. Because that infrastructure is shared, a few rules keep it fast, lawful, and available for everyone. You are responsible for everything done through your account.
1. Use the Service lawfully
You agree not to use Tenux to:
- Violate any law, regulation, or third-party right, including intellectual-property and privacy rights.
- Store, generate, transmit, or distribute content that is illegal, infringing, defamatory, harassing, or that incites violence.
- Create, store, or transmit child sexual abuse material (CSAM) or any content that sexually exploits minors — ever, under any circumstances.
2. Don’t abuse the infrastructure
The relay, tunnels, signalling, and cloud VMs exist to connect you to your own machines — not as general-purpose internet plumbing. You agree not to:
- Run cryptocurrency miners or similar resource-farming workloads on our relay or cloud VMs.
- Use a tunnel or the relay as a general-purpose proxy or VPN unrelated to reaching your own machine.
- Route third-party traffic through Tenux, or use it as a CDN or to host production or public traffic for others.
- Resell, sublicense, rent, or transfer your relay bandwidth, tunnels, device access, or AI credits.
- Generate disproportionate or sustained load designed to degrade the Service for other users.
3. Respect the plan boundaries
The free tier is local / same-network access only — remote access requires an active paid subscription. You agree not to:
- Circumvent the local / same-network boundary of the free tier, or obtain remote relay access without an active subscription.
- Bypass, or attempt to bypass, rate limits, quotas, bandwidth metering, billing controls, your overage settings, or your overage spend cap.
- Tamper with metering or misreport your usage.
4. Use the AI agent responsibly
Tenux Chat can run terminal commands, read and edit files, and operate a dev server on your machine at your direction. The same rules apply to any AI assistant you connect to Tenux (such as Claude). You agree not to:
- Direct the agent to create malware, attack tooling, or other code whose purpose is to harm systems or gain unauthorised access.
- Use the agent, or an assistant you connect, to automate spam, abuse, or any activity that violates this AUP.
- Connect an assistant account that someone else controls or shares, or use a connection to give anyone else access to your computers.
You remain solely responsible for every command the agent runs and every change it makes, and for what a connected assistant does through the permissions you grant — see the AI-agent sections of the Terms of Service.
5. Don’t attack or interfere
You agree not to:
- Launch denial-of-service (DoS / DDoS) attacks against Tenux, a third party, or another Tenux user.
- Scan, probe, or penetration-test systems you do not own or are not authorised to test — whether ours, a third party’s, or another user’s.
- Stage or distribute malware, or attempt to access another user’s account, data, or tunnels.
6. How we enforce this
We monitor resource usage, connection state, and abuse signals — not the contents of your traffic. Consistent with our role as the pipe (see the Privacy Policy), we do not inspect your code, files, terminal output, or chat. (Tenux Chat on credits passes through our servers so we can meter it and forward it to the AI provider; we don’t store or review it.) Where we reasonably believe this AUP has been breached, or where usage is disproportionate or threatens the Service, we may throttle, suspend, or terminate access — including stopping a cloud VM (its data is preserved per the Billing Policy) or suspending relay access. Severe abuse — attacks, illegal content, CSAM — may result in immediate termination without notice and, where required by law, a report to the authorities.
